A ‘Toon of Scones and Tea high water is a boon to Mercury at noon it roils and boils and soon we’d have a spot of tea fine Englishmen, I say, would gladly wile away with scones and tea in May beside an azure sea so surely you’d agree quite equally with me that tea beside the sea would sweetly frame the day tho Englishmen we’re not they’d rightly hit the spot sweet scones and tea that’s hot at a table by the bay two chairs with comfy pads a couple deep-fried shads we’d talk of crazy fads ‘til many hours past noon we’d munch and sip and chat on crumpets, things like that, and grow rotundly fat before twas half-past June ©November 4, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
