in the shadows

Where the sea washes gently
on a paradise shore,
where stars have watched us
for so many lives
and palmettos shred notes
from distant guitars,
please sip tonight
from the chalice moon,
enjoy the soft breeze
and the orchids’ glow,
know that I love you
and dream of a world
where soon is a word
dressed in silk,
and blessed by the gods.
