In anonymity I send this love, a sonnet cast to winds of cyber-space, with just the slightest hope you’d guess where-of such admiration grew from your sweet grace
Although its timid author bares no face, he sends the soundless music of a dance whose rhythm he prays joins your pure heart’s pace and pulses in a warm flow of romance
Though while he knows no distant word supplants what supplicating presence would portray, a too slow healing heart won’t let him chance so “X” sends admiration in this way
Though brazen, it is sent from bended knee, In ardent adoration signed “just me”

Any woman who reads these ardently romantic words, would secretly wish that she were the one for whom this valentine's poem was written!

Dear Friends.
I am touched at the outpouring of well wishes. I must explain however that this was written to no one. That it won't be sent to anyone and that no fair visage attended its creation. I realized that I was becoming a bit of a sour puss curmudgeon between my political rants, moral outrages and woeful admissions of depression and angst, of the dark passage to this place and the unlit way ahead. It is merely a gift to you all, who've been so kind to me through your encouraging comments.
While I seldom attempted to define a "muse" even in my solitary musings, I suppose that a touch of a once idealized notion of love still exists. And while I, personally dare not even venture a future that would include such hope, I've come to realize its importance to so many of you. Please see this poem as yours and I hope it gets good use. Heh. I answered first. It's MINE!
No "woe is me" about you in this one, Richard. And yes, I do think you have a muse. I see her smiling.

Richard, your generous and self-effacing explanation is, in itself, another gift that you have given to all of your readers.
May you have the love in your life that you so 'rich'ly deserve!

I understand your thoughts poured out - sometimes we are caught in the downward - and it is a nice gift to your friends, and to yourself - to put on those rosy glasses for a bit -
lovely poem -

I wish I could give this one the critique it deserves, but alas, I am not qualified other than to say that the words flowed like a stream with no obstruction, and the sentiment of the sonnet was perfectly measured out both in cohessiveness of thought and form. Sonnets have the potential for being redundant or boring sometimes, but I think you really hold the reader's attention with the choice of words. This one felt inspired. Now mind you, I do not usually try to critique poems but I read your encouragement, so I have tried. (Please don't think I am capable of amply critiquing for I feel inadequate to do this. However, I do enjoy reading your poetry; and I don't particularly care about "status as a critic.")
