A Perfect Circle By: Noah Eaton 9/7/03 Vicariously I take these fingerpaints Spilt from the forgotten palette I stare at a symbol on some strangers driveway Hoping its artist didn't forget Perhaps I can build a ladder to the sun Suspend this religion and encourage everyone To train them to dive into this abyss Oscillating in synchronized harmony I've been staring through these thin doors Peering through electric windows Hearing children gossiping about constellations Soon enough they'll join the vigil Then these fingers can draw A perfect circle... Walking through this Walpurgis Night Swimming through a sea of dragonflies Wearing paper hats on all our heads Running for cover, running for the daylight Arranging down these roads these warning signs Holding a box of rain without an address implied Skimming through corn fields for its owner Looking for the headlight in this firefight I've been staring through these thin doors Peering through electric windows Hearing children gossiping about constellations Soon enough they'll join the vigil Then these fingers can draw A perfect circle... Clarity is not a one-eyed Cheshire cat Not a cardboard pirate riding an aluminum ship Teach your children to draw halos with their fingers Show the world how to frame the full moon with the eclipse... The way to love is no Sunday matinee You've got to go with the flow everyday Time to jump off the moon To where heaven can see us and draw a perfect circle... A perfect circle A perfect circle... A perfect circle A perfect circle... "You'll find something that's enough to keep you But if the bright lights don't receive you You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20 |
