A wander of the woodland field afar A wander of the woodland field afar Stirs thoughts to wind; the wounded arm Measures the pacing rod. A woodland suffers the hoof as the worm Stirs blood to bruise; veins mark the road That leads man to his god. A wander in the mood belies A life wrought stillborn; the iron Eyes peer down through the hollow bone. A tempest of the woodland in the mind Spills the depth; the spinal yardstick Steps off the curtained cloud. The leaf that dies commands the meadow hope Half in beauty; death splits the wood To the ground; roots cry out. A woodland set to furrow bend Lead to paths trod; fractured bones Limp on eyes emptied from their sockets. A wander in the woodland of the world Stirs marrow to blood; a man’s death Will freeze in the hollows A wander through a gluttoned solstice sun Tears out cartilage for life to renew And the resurrection flows. I thank you all for reading and taking time to comment. This is my first attempt at a different style of poetry for me. I need to stretch my mind. Robert |
