Some words, I cannot snare.
Like a lion, slow to prey
I cannot catch them all.

You, muse, are the illusive,
graceful impala;
gliding, quick as lightening -
teasing the savanna breeze
with your scent.

I taste you from afar.

Laying in the burning grass,
I have sensed your coming and going,
all the day long.

Your supple movements belie a vigilance,
transformed to breathless flight.

There's no other like you!

An empty horizon fills my eyes,
as the sun becomes one with earth.
And all around the hidden sing
a song of your arrival.

Bathed in red...
still desperate for your scent,
and words to describe it so.
