The greener grass of somewhere else
squiggles like a misplaced worm
in the recess of imaginings
back lighted with desire.

A ledge of polished wood
glistens in the light of change
and pulls my gaze unwaveringly
into reflective ponderings
as fingers carefully search
for the crack and scratch
beneath the surface of a wish.

Three walls, back and sides,
painted palest creamy beige
static and unmoved
by indecisive moods
remain solid in endurance
of scrawled and bold graffiti
on the perimeter of need.

But earth vibrates in fitful sleep
and passively the plaster
of a once wholesome dream
splits and fractures
from the core of soul
while masked figurines
left over from the past
stare on unemotionally
into agendas of their own.

And a woman in the middle
needing air to breathe
opens doors and windows
but no through draught
or hint of breeze
wafts in with a decision!

Helen

But earth vibrates in fitful sleep
and passively the plaster
of a once wholesome dream
splits and fractures
from the core of soul
while masked figurines
left over from the past
stare on unemotionally
into agendas of their own.

Always you write such truth into your poetry from your life.

I am wavering tonight in some God awful place I do not like being.

Sometimes the need is so empty, I could scream.

I do love your work, and every single word, Helen dear~

Thank you, Martie dear.  Do we wait for a sign for change or do we make our own signs?

Oh, Bluesy gal, I do so understand but, you know, we spring back eventually - yes, we're springs extending and shrinking until we fit comfortably either with ourselves or with one worthy of our love ... and I say "worthy" because it is the greatest gift anyone can give.  If it is rejected, I'm positive that in the long run we aren't the losers.  Take care of "you"!
