The news told me today we’re just too hot for our own good and it has to be my fault, because I didn’t vote for the man in the make believe farmer’s coat who lied about his past in would or should or could, and I choose not to freeze so I’m damned for burning firewood, and countries where the toilets don’t flush and the lights don’t work and some dictator jerk steals all the money and takes the prettiest girls, should be given time to catch up with us in eco-depravity and planetary degradation while they make our batteries and computer chips, as if the Ross Shelf would care when it breaks loose down there and the whole world’s tilt flips and finally makes us understand the Earth’s no guarantee at all. It won’t matter if we breathe fetid air, if all the guilt should be mine then third world should mean third in line when Armageddon rolls around, so they should all give us a hand as we all go on ahead of them at being dead. I just can’t stand the sound of tree huggers whining that we’re all gonna die, it puts a fire in my eye, then I want to tell the damned fools of course we’re all gonna die no one gets out alive, who told them they’d get to have more of life? probably Al Gore and his silly bleached blond wife; I can’t remember did he invent the internet or was it just the trifectca bet? I’m less a fan of hot than cold so if the world is going to Hell in a hand basket I might have wished we had been told we all were going to Helena, Montana, at least there I know the game trails and if all else fails how to dig a basement deep, but then again how can anyone really know where we’re going when we’re really nowhere at all? I’ve been told my poetry blows and I should shut up and go away when I think I might have something to say to clean out my head, or maybe that was just my nose, maybe that’s just the way it goes I’ve stayed here 30 years now and I don’t know why; it isn’t like there’s no place else to go I even have a home in Mexico. ©2005 by icebox [This message has been edited by icebox (01-24-2005 10:46 PM).] |
