Picture if you will, an aged oak, twisting beautifully, shadowed against the peer of sunset edging darkened skies of blue and gray of storm- and thus the poem . . . within the pattern of age etched furrows and gnarls of trial, wisdom is woven despite the storms or . . . perhaps because of— thus she stands strong surmounting the bitter of wind tossed rains and snow frosted winters rising tall to the occasion in breadth and resolve bearing the scars of time’s passing yes, she stands a thing of beauty in all her worn glory a proud pedagogue to the heart of us all s.a.t. she - the tree - is a metaphor for those women in my life that have stood the trials and storms of living and yet reflect such great beauty of wisdom earned and soul kept - If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

Grin - this is just a salute to those women who are everyday heros of conquering the ordinary and extraordinary of life - like my mother, my sister, my mother-in-law - those who have grown just more beautiful with age and set such a wonderful example for me on living - Hugs friends - thanks for the replies - susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

You write with such grace, Susan. Gotta love the inked one's reply, and her sweet blondielocks. |

Liked this on a few levels. I've written of woman's roots and seeds and the binds that run through them (and their unknowing and detached offshoots, men) I have no motivation for such obvious observation, no agenda. Too I love huge old oaks and have an immense one six feet from the door near where I sit. It looms over this bungalow. I stare at it often in wonder. Your pre-poem explanation is poetry as well. Enjoyed Poets against the war is redundant |
