Here in Winter’s brittle night, my always troubled sleep built from fits of memories of running in the canyons, hiding from determined predators, crawling in the canebrakes seeking fragile shelters soon to be gone, where to this distant day I still at times awake screaming riddled by sharp winds of a stark reality, has left me shaking in the cold, as in truth I am waiting on a storm. This early sky was briefly amber, pink and blue, fleeting colors gone now to a brooding cold and graying dawn; does your morning caress you, hold you in a kind embrace wrapped satisfied gently with erotic dreams, patiently conjuring a softly stifled yawn? I pray the tropic’s breeze, calm blue water’s hope, gives you the weather gage this day and keeps you warm. ©2005 by icebox [This message has been edited by icebox (01-23-2005 09:22 PM).] |

i have a tendency to over think what i read, often missing what the author intended, but, finding something else does not mean the writer failed. no, i think that when someone comes away with a different view than the others see, i think, it shows what a great poem i've read. for me, this piece is sad...the pain i can feel is almost wrenching ... and reminds me of someone i know who suffers from PTSD. a lot like what he writes of, actually. excellent work! I never seem to know when a storm is coming, they always take me by surprise. *kiss* for your waking. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

I snore....so that is out... Enjoyed this, so true of the warrior's sleep, sometimes fitful...with dreams that haunt the waking memories... |
