After taste steams to skin song How many memories cease to be true? Mind weaves a cause to doubt While fish swim seas full throttle Can you hear that undulation of dreams? It’s always called you… The smoky breath which clings to your arm Like I used to, driving in the car Finger wind in our hair… Songs we sang together, full swing Was our love story easy to read segments? Like a perfect way to start the day? Or did we write on summer’s cutting edge Simply protesting in head phones We were so young, then, living by different rules My mind visits a team roster, nonetheless Attempting at times to break loose Your right hand grabs my wrist, pulling me back Increasing the pressure a little The heat was oppressive that summer…remember? You cradled my hyperglycemia with sugar There was no one there, as we waited for daylight You held me in your arms…warmly saying Just remember, no matter what, I’ll always love you Did that mean you knew you were dressing for another Long term class? Whispering, even now…I think of you too Darlin, somehow, we’ve got to learn to play by the rules If things change, and you lean a little towards my sidewalk Perhaps we’d fit each others jackets In real life rhythm…a drowsy lulled sense of well being That tender choice, has always been yours But you wanted to go to college before we joined up And now…I’m a newcomer to the ways of the world |
