Where no tyranny is tolerable

A fleeting glimpse into the dark, roiling depths of Jaime's unconscious.

Night Terror Edition 2005

1:
First, the Sun is born;
and after that, its children.
Time passes and, on Earth,
both Life and Death appear.

2:
a young girl
brings me a caged gull,
a boney, prehistoric-looking thing,
to keep for her
til she returns.
Millions of years pass,
and there is the sound of rushing water.
The bird,
and the carrion it has eaten,
rots
and then begins to stink.
Millions of years pass,
and there is the sound of rushing water.

3:
The young girl plays
in a heated indoor pool,
and the air hangs thick
with steam and the decomposing stench
of putrid water.
As she plays,
a dark, malignant thing
inches toward her
from the heated depths below,
a deadly, petrifying force
that will fossilize her
unless she leaves the pool.
I try to tell her this,
but she pays me no attention
and just goes right on playing.
As savage Death draws closer,
again I try to warn her;
again she will not listen.
And her splashing and her cries
only grow wilder,
and then frenzied,
then delirious.
In terror,
with only seconds left to spare,
I rush outside
and try to call for help.
But no one else will pay attention.
No one else will listen,
not until I know
that it has happened,
not until I know
it is too late.

Oh, dearest Jaime, I am sending you a tidal wave of peaceful thoughts, to counteract this nightmare.
*sigh*
It's not too late, if hearts as giving as yours stick together, the safety net may someday be a reality.

wwww, Midnitesun.
Thank you.  I experienced this dream will confined at a place I euphamistically call "the asylum."
Someday I'll sit down with you and tell you all about it.

Jaime, we must compare nightmares sometime...
have you ever had yours interpreted?

I think about doing it...
but I'm afraid of that little white suit...
