Mists of war so intimate
Like comrades come and go
Of carnages and loneliness
Who speaks the mind of soul?

Eyes of fundamentalists
Assembling ideological skills
In human situations
Masked by control
Of hallucinating miseries
One’s that I adore

Allow me my deformity
The bard of lowest depths
The very human side of me
Which rarely wins or triumphs

I’ll past the cultivating elements
To all losses in life’s time
Saving all the textures
The dwelling places mine

I am this earthly mud and dirt
Dusting off the notebook
Of self annihilation
Randomly coercing workbook
By history and forces of nature
Sometimes a night watch, helpful

An inconsistent human
With glimpses of redemption
A snob, nailing closed, my very own coffin
While dark forces give permission
Toasting thumbs up & tied behind their backs
With photogenic wisecracks

Awakening to my personal life
And all that lies beyond
I’ve come into a time
Where dangers do no harm

I am a calculated menace
A steady playing briefness
Of what lies beyond our reach
Life’s personal, soul to teach

I stumble, crushing gentleness
Compassion and decency
Taking on a new face
Of a calculated dream

Ruthless will, turns grief to balm
A little more powerful
A little more humble
A little more insightful
Walking straight into the void

Ahhhhh yes,
Mists of war so intimate
Like comrades come and go
Of carnages and loneliness
Who speaks the mind of soul~

You know, Lee, the first two lines of each stanza make up another poem in and of itself...

an intrinsic look
at humanity
and its ways...

Well done!

Fantastic write - yes, that's it - "fantastic".  Perhaps the will, the "ruthless" will is the true essence of our being that joins and keeps alive body, soul/mind.

Ahhhhh yes!  You have such insight into humanity, and the almost placid way we all are at times conjoined in perceptions and misconceptions of what we truly should be concerned about.
I thank you for the reminder.  And, for your philosophy class 101.  So enjoyed this read.
