somewhere beneath upper crusts
of hardened nay
lie molten rivers hungering
realease
these fingers spread o'er cool
ashen surface, hoped more than mere
imprinted proof of "was here"
but wished volcanic realization
of mutual need

to know...

another layer forms to stave
off the harm-
less portal be found and ground
moves to shake feet firmly rooted
in honor and duty

I know...

a year and no longer shall ears
hear roar, rage, the minutest change
nor shall sensitive fingertips
search maybe's pulse beyond
the wall where laid to rest
these tiers

for you know,

you know...

I'm sure~
This is so well put and the emotions,
so sadly beautiful, Tiersdin~

Tier, you are
the first one I am telling,
but this year, one
of my resolutions
are to read all poems aloud...
if only in a whisper
at the 3:00 a.m.'s when I am
reading, and at other times,
and someday, I hope
to hear your voice
speak your poems
into my soundwaves...

but until then, I will imagine
reading poems aloud
just like this.

Tier, what a beautiful write. and Elan has the right idea, beautifully written poetry, such as this, is meant to be read outloud. Involving the ears always stimulates another dimension.
