For Thee I Can Paint Pretty Prose

For thee I can paint pretty prose,
As fragrant as a damask rose,
But poetry thusly confined,
Doth make my heart feel disinclined.

I feel not love nor do I hate,
But verse so fixed doth seem ornate,
And is the message truly clear,
When too this dead mode I adhere?

Why must our speech we befuddle?
‘Tis simple truths that we muddle,
Mayhap we should speak honestly—
—Of what we quest for earnestly.

For love ‘tis true we’ve marched to war,
Shopped the haberdashery store,
Given posies and written odes,
But fathomed not the simplest codes.

Love is the whole I feel for thee,
And there’s naught else I’d have it be.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

Wow, Kevin, no one here can equal the way you handle this mode! Well done.
Does this mean you're going to delight us with a new style soon? That would be fine, so long as you occasionally gift us with this format, which I really enjoy reading.

I love the rosy portraits you paint and the gilded word lovelies - you do it so well - but then I think you would write any style well -
