In this cold her skin lay in tremors
Pushed against the edges where
They broke into a froth capturing
Bits of the broken leaves
And stray twigs wet logged
Against the stone
She used to protect
Places that erode

And it froze
  First in delicate
While clouds were threaded
Into changing light
That swept dark trees
With the lies of warmth

Just a frost against the meeting

But sheets began
Without the soft of Egyptian weave
To wrinkle her bed
And she in fury embraced the wind

Cold this lie of lake
    Gasping low moans
In limbs along her flanks
   Bruised blue crush of death
To all that once
                         Was green

Let winter begin, then,
sliding, as it does
across lake's ice
as deer's breath hangs
in frosty crystal
in wait of thaw...

Ron

It's hard to imagine such cold, in this California winter of 80 degree days.  You make it so beautiful!

No one can make nature take on such breath, depth or emotion as you..

You are a master at making one feel the caress in every keystroke.

I love it when you show me Sir.

you make me NOT miss Winter, and winter down under don't get as cold as yours.

smiling wide

you know yer beautiful, don't ya?

and our forecast calls for seventy degrees on Wednesday. Possible snow flurries for Thursday.

And I've been called inconsistent. Why, I am just the product of my environment.

So well you pen nature - you capture her in elegance and beauty - and now I need to go find some warm jammies and slip into my Egyptian cotton sheets (the best) and warm up
