Moved from a shack to a barn

Now I lay me
This tired, bent and aching sum of myself
Down

For nearly the 20,000th time
To ponder the enormity of it all

In an attempt to find some sign
Of reason embroidered in the cobwebs
Hanging in the window

Or purpose in the languid semaphore
Of the branches outside
And the distant astrologies visible beyond

Then
To sleep and pray
The Lord, whomever, my soul
To keep searching
Through this immeasurable desert

Sifting past the smoothest and shiniest grains
For proof-positive of my existence

And if I should die
Before I wake to certain understandings
Cutting short my quest in this

I pray the Lord
My soul, spirit, essence, whatever

To take

Wonderful!

We always look for signs to unveil all the mysteries of existence ...

I think our going back Home will be enlightening ...

Meanwhile, our alliance with LOVE, our BEING LOVE, is the most powerful means to make sense of it all.

Thank you for this precious work!

Love, Margherita

Enjoyed this take on the childhood prayer - there is much to ponder in the simple words -

(Have to admit the title got me..lol)

But the words kept me.  Maybe it's no big mystery..maybe it's just to be enjoyed the best way we are capable of...

I would pray...now I lay me down to sleep every night when I was a child. Sometimes I still do.....this one sweeps the bones!

You Rock Bro!

I thought I had replied to this outstanding piece of poetry, I'm sorry that I'm late.
