Both poems are so very, very lovely. I had not heard of a dodoitsu before. Thank your for introducing me to a new Japanese poetic form!

Happy fishing and flying!

Bravo for you! The Japanese forms are some of my favorites, and the Dodoitsu has been a popular folk music form. Thanks for sharing this!
FYI, who wish wish to understand, the "dodo" as I call it (LOL) often has love or humor as its theme, and is traditonally an unrhymed set of 4 lines, in a 7,7,7,5 syllable format, used in some Japanese folk music I heard in the early 60's. It is not written or performed too often by American writers.

to this brave writer!

LOL, dynamic, ever changing...and often quite fun I 'grew up' in the 60's, with a lot of Japanese friends in California, then studied Asian lit in college.
As for this form in music, go back even further, and listen to Mikimatsu (I think that's the spelling)
gotta love the internet! here, I found him! just follow this link: http://jtrad.columbia.jp/eng/u_dodoitsu.html
