Not Enough Time there’s not enough time it’s December, again, the year’s ending, again almost every morning when I sit in this chair contemplating composition my thought is “not enough time.” the thought comes, echoes, reverberates but nothing follows it clarifying “what” there is not enough time for today is the first day in these many weeks that any addendum has transpired and yet a puzzling still accompanies the sensation at hand for what is there not enough time it could be almost anything it could merely be preamble to closure the ticking away of the coming days this side of fifty when the rope’s knots are burning the hours to a dwindling few or is it merely a nagging that a day holds too few moments to grasp the meaning in them no, I think it is the former rather than the latter since I’m surely in my latter days as they tatter away beneath the moon’s wane ©December 11, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
