![]() Solitude Opens Dusted WingsLamps are lit as shadows fall, Quiet echoes down each hall, Silence deafens, sadness rings, Solitude opens dusted wings. 'Ere the moon is risen yet; Sun in a bloody bath now set. Vainly fluttering in a trance, I am a moth, in merry dance. Like a moth drawn to a light, My soul and heart do waltz at night. What is this friend, just who is she? Her memory makes a moth of me. Up and down outside the glass, Then back again for another pass, My shadow flits against glassy wall, I'm fragile as a moth about to fall. The glass is hot, it hits my wings. Bittersweet peace this pain now brings. On the ground, laying in the gutter, Departs my soul in one last flutter. Still somehow I avoid that light, Darkness my friend, saves me at night, Refusing to be a moth with dusted wings, I live her memory and the love it brings. ![]() "Set your spirit free on the wings of a butterfly" Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing. ~ Albert Schweitzer |

Several layers of serious in this... it's not easy being a moth, OR a butterfly... almost as hard as just being human... and making possibilities... good stuff, this. |

I like the resurection at the end - the stand of strength - well written my friend - ![]() Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

Sharon, The cue ball scattered all the symbols. Some sank in the pockets but most are still on the table. Like an abstract painting I can only read so much. LOL would you like another session on the couch. ![]() |

I envy the fragile butterfly, so unhurried on its meandering way. Too often our way is the blunt line of a bee. Enjoyed |

![]() Thank you for reading yet another instantaneous "Willow Whine." Sometimes I wonder if they will ever stop, but then ... I guess that holidays are meant to remember those we love even if they are no longer with us but held in heart. |

Very sweet tribute, Sharon. The people that touch us continue to live through us. ![]() "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

I remember so many nights watching from inside my balcony window these huge moths as they trapsed up and down my window in vague vertical patterns, bumping again and again "let me in, let me in" your poem brought back these memories and I thank you... because now that summer is so far from here.... any reminder of it at all is a welcome one.... and your poem was just fabulous!!!! A really beauty of a write, sharon. Thank you for sharing this. I sense a beautiful free moth moving alongside a willow in this piece. |

Sharon, it is good to read you again. I wish you would write more. A dark tale that resurrects at the end. hugs, Marti A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows. |

I think the ending line summed up this lovely, rythmic piece beautifully, Sharon. ![]() "I live her memory and the love it brings." Memories, no matter how bittersweet, are still a wonderful thing. They do bring love, as you so genuinely acknowledged. Love still shines amongst the questions, the wants, and the things and people we miss. Memories truly are a good thing, though they can hurt desperately at times. ![]() Best wishes and hugs, /Kit |

All of you are so kind in your comments to me, and to be honest I haven't had time to write a thing lately, life keeps getting in the way. I do however make time each day to read at least 10-15 people in here, both freinds and new people to encourage them. A note about "The Kitster," who for some reason "reads" me well, and out of the blue offered a hug (or 12), ![]() Again, thanks to you all for reading, and I will try to get in here a little more often after these hectic holiday times. Merry Christmas to you all too. |

Well you drew the moths I expected to see. But only because the brightness of your writing light is so irresistable. Yes'am I liked this. Touched places I seldom heed. Thanks sweet friend. ![]() If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
