the river she grew too big to rub her ripples on the side where the bank turned over some porcelain moonlight she was pale tremulous frosted with the glass of soft mouth water slippery handfuls overflowed the shadow man told her stories about her fingers in the mud and how she made the roots grow, about the woman water's calling that made her feel oceans distant were her body close and shudder song skies were her only sister's twin she found new sides then for her bath shape boundaries and danced for the shadowman with her fingers in the soft she said the suckle mud was his heart _______________ Dark |
