Making Sense of Choice lilacs frame the window with wondrous precision as if they bring peace to encourage decision aesthetic balance pleases eye, soothes soul conquers timidity makes me feel whole calms the quaking wondering brings settles the foundation stills the strings a tacit of sound quietness imbued my fluttering heart serenely subdued like watching joy permeate a party of family and friends while outside, looking in one finds beauty, tranquility’s place, in the witness of laughter the silence of grace stepping away for a new point of view helps appease the anguish and see what is true the struggle resolved my reasoning made I rest with serenity no longer afraid ©November 26, 2004 Though the 1st stanza was written prior to seeing “Christmas With the Cranks,” much of the balance of the piece was affected by a scene from out on the lawn looking at a party framed by Christmas lights and garland around each edge of a bay window. It was an awesome scene, like a living Christmas greeting. CHOICE! Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
