Out on the night street there is music— Something not quite Spanish thrills the air The town pretends to go wild on liberty weekends Ruby’s dressed in gaudy red . . . . and looking taller than she is Beer and shots youthfully ignorant arguments about love . . . and the nature of God Amber lights in shabby restaurants A wash of stars above it all |

Very good - wondered about the title. Lance Corporal is an early promotion often broken back to the lower level. Trying to live between a rock and a hard place with no thanks from anyone. Been there, done it, failed, and came back to lose the next one up. Interesting. Dave |

Yes, Yes, Yes...the live of a Lance Corporal. I lived it as a PFC, a Lance Corporal, A Corporal, and a Sergeant. Hey, wait a minute! You have delivered a summary of the single Marine from Private to Sgt Major/Master Guns. Well done! Of course, your imagery suggests, to me anyway, of my even wilder life in Okinawa with the FMF. Warm regards to you. In solidarity, Kevin Sgt USMC 1988 - 1996 (Having lived the life of a LCPL the entire way - Shame on me!) |
