All Hail, It’s Turkey’s Day! I thought I saw a turkey upon the garden wall then later saw it lurking in the dimly lit east hall. The deviled eggs upon the plate had been scratched beyond repair it all made sense, as I pondered it, why the turkey’d be lurking there. He would surely face the dungeon and the man wielding an ax if he’d get caught and harangued for his impolite attacks. A shadow cast upon the walls moving toward the most west wing a gobble and a shuffle I could hear the turkey sing. It would prove his undoing to be so light and full of voice; I guess he wasn’t worried, thought he knew the Pres’s choice. He flapped his wings, did a pirouette all the way out to the garden. I guess we’ve found that turkey wise for the president gave pardon. And now the day of feasting has finally arrived. That turkey is boasting, not basting, for my dear, he’s quite alive! And we can see some fish or is it chocolate fondue? It might be a vegetarian plate or a sweet soybean tofu. ©November 25, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
