A poor dwelling near the river mouth, Within a semi-circle of ancient trees That has it’s opening to the south To let flow in the mild summer breeze. It sits just off the twisting road Following the river in every bend Just a shouting from humble abode Where resides the eternal friend. He offers tea in the morning To the travelers going up the hill, He offers wine in the evening For on his porch he sits still He remembers every passers name No matter how long the while, He always looks the same And forever wears a smile. Gloom Inspired from a T’ang Dynasty fan with poetry of Wang Wei on it. |
