THAT’S WAR! One of the tragedies of War That just happened to be seen By one of the pool cameras But, what happens "in between"? We rarely see the good things Cause they're not "worthy" of the "news" And the camera's viewfinder Only shows, very narrow views. Our Troops have given Lives And been wounded and maimed For the People of a foreign land Where now, terrorists are trained. Whether we think the War is wrong And for those who think it's right We must stand beside our Soldiers Mostly "kids" thrown into the Fight. War is an ugly, horrible, thing But, we "elected" to be there And we can't forget the "lost one" When some people failed to "care". Some mistakes will be made And some "innocents" will die But when an enemy is killed "again" It's not our place to question, "Why?" Let's leave the fighting to the experts That's what we are paying for Not second guess our Military Who stand face to face, with War. Please take a step back and as Kerry said “separate the warrior from the war” That one would oppose aggression done in their name, be frustrated that too many citizens (and politicians) were duped (or intimidated with jingoistic bugling) into confusing Iraq and Hussein with those who actually attacked us is, in fact, very patriotic. The essence of patriotic courage was displayed by Kerry who, after having served, spoke out against an unjustifiable war in a manner that hindsight validates. (is there truly any doubt?) The ‘embedded’ journalists are a joke. It was a way for power to control truth. One reason for the outrage of Vietnam, and so its subsequent end, were the honest, uncensored images we all got to see with our dinners. I’ve no doubt that there are plenty of “good things” being done but since the government controls the media don’t you think we’d have seen them if they were in such abundance? If the ‘embedded’ journalists had a free hand on what they COULD show us you’d be outraged. As it is the ugly truth still seeps out. Terrrorists might be trained in Iraq now, but they were not there before we motivated them, drew them in and even armed them. I’m sorry but it sure as hell is our duty to “question, Why?” I’m not in the “Light Brigade” these people are supposed to answer to we the people. All of them from the Commander in Chief on down. It's an age old question, that of personal responsibilty in time of war. Killing a prone, injured, unarmed man and glibbly saying, "He's dead now" is a crime. Trust me, time will soon prove we're all on the same page as to the why's. We'll be united when the truth is revealed. |

RSWELLS Wow! Finally got a rise out of somebody. Couldn't agree with you more except we can't make our Troops afraid to defend themselves when THEY feel they are in danger. I don't want to walk a mile in their shoes to know what I might do under similar circumstances. We shouldn't be there in the first place!! Del "Abe" Jones |

hmmm...well, since Kerry admitted to murder, shooting civilians, burning down towns, committing atrocities in a manner of Ghengis Khan and he is a symbol of patriotic courage, I suppose this one soldier on film must be a saint... There's something to be said about wearing another man's shoes.... |

Murder is wrong even in war. Every citizen has a right to voice their opinion, that is what makes this country the only place I would ever want to live. Unfortunatley a select few tarnish and brand thousands of courageous brave men and women risking their lives everyday for this country. Those few who discredit us will be held accountable. We may not like this war, and many people oppose it, but it was a necessary evil that had to be done. As a veteran, I am proud to call the United Stated my home and would do anything needed to defend this country no matter what my views may be towards current political thinking on national policies. I enjoyed this post very much, it reminds me that nothing is free and everything we have today is because of spilt blood by many brave men and women. |
