Bright sky Late summer A strong wind over green fields Far away the sacred mountains White mists evaporate to fall again as rain Gibbons cry in heaven’s forest Dragons fly above the clouds Don’t fret old man A time will come Someone somewhere will like your poems |

Well, I did like this one, so vivid and you could feel the scene before you. |

*smiling at you* Perhaps we don't always agree on Philosophy, John, but I truly admire your poetry. Your choice of spare words to convey imagery is indeed very effective, and there is a soothing and tranquil undercurrent that I always enjoy while reading. and yes, someone, somewhere, does indeed like your poems. |

"It is astonishing that Chia Tao, a uniquely clear-tempered poet of hard luck, Zen sobriety, and durable friendship, has not had a full translation until now. The wait has been worth it.... A crisp introduction and well informed bibliography are all the more reason to light a stick of incense." --Andrew Schelling, The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, Naropa University" referring to the recent translations of Zen monk Chia Tao's (T'ang dynasty 779-843). Now to order this: "When I find you again, it will be on mountains." Thanks for the beautiful write John, and a reminder to read this particular book. |
