If you watch her as she tilts her head to the moon
you will see a sly smile and the warm afterglow
that reflects the heat of an afternoon’s sun
marked with memories of her true love’s tune.

And when she does look you in the eye,
remember how it felt and why it is
you first said those words,
I love you.

Forget-me-nots
are always a good gift.
