The world’s strongest woman Is from Ohio. She lives back a lane Where rare trees grow. And she’s like the pear tree, That unique special one, Which was struck by lightening. We thought it was done. But one of its branches Had fallen to ground And from it some saplings, Four now abound. It is symbolic but yet it is true, Four were her children Me, brother, sisters two. This strong woman Carried the weight Of a ton on her back, Or more than that. She’s an angel on Earth This I know. Her hair, now silver gray, Twinkles halo. 81 years and she’s still growing Stronger each day. Her wisdom is showing. Oh, the times she has seen! She has been different things. But I know her as Mom, My Lightening Rod and The strongest woman I've ever known. Mom, I wrote this poem, its true, Just to say “love you.” XOXOXO, jo [This message has been edited by iliana (07-29-2004 06:41 PM).] |

very charming, I liked the title and the reference to it. You have style similar to Sadelite, I like very much. C? |

C? Sadie and I are sisters (Cathy is my youngest sister). I didn't realize our style was similar, but I'm not surprised you see our common roots (pun intended). I might add that our father was a chemist....thought you'd like that. Thanks for the sweet comment. ....jo |

This is so sweet. I would love to get something like this from one of my daughters someday. I do have it pretty good though, my 4 year old made me a valentines day card yesterday with hearts and a chocolate rainbow |

81 years and she’s still growing Stronger each day. Her wisdom is showing. Oh, the times she has seen! She has been different things. But I know her as Mom, My Lightening Rod and The strongest woman I've ever known. they are indeed a marvel...are they not? This was a beauty, of which she should see...I think she'd be overwhelmed by it's beauty. Thank you for writing and sharing! |

Lovely, Jo. You are very lucky to have a mother like that. I often think of mine but as yet I can't quite define her. It will come to me in time as most things do. |

Jo, I hope you gave this to her. She says she doesn't like poetry, but I think differently. I think it is our love of writing that came from listening to her read letters and memories she's written. On the surface, this woman seems so plain, but you and I know her complexity. Yes, she is the strongest woman I know! Probably, she's one of the strongest people, period. You know she'll be very humble about this and tell us how it isn't true!!! Our Mom! love, cathy |

lily jo, your Mom sounds just like I picture you when you are 81 years young! Her strength, beauty and wisdom comes through the poetry of her own wonderful daughters! A lovely read. Made me smile and feel all fuzzy inside ~ and missing my own Mom! I think I'll give her a call ~ all those thousands of miles away! Give your Mom a big hug from me and keep one for yourself! Linda |
