Waxing

filling with joy
toward elation
giddy as filled
with sweet libation

summer moon
is on the rise
a drenching lights
the summer skies

a surprise to me
this lonesome tune
reality hits
its my blue moon

it’s rare indeed
this phenomenon
hence why do I
feel like a pawn

moved about
to another’s will
reflected in
the moonlight’s spill

since time and space
are not by chance
why must these steps
be blue moon dance

it’s man’s contrive
as calendar’s gauge
manipulates
the diarist’s page

for joy is felt
beneath full moon
when one per month
prompts crooner’s tune

yet not so now
end of July
a blue moon prompts
a crooner’s cry
