Shhh......... don't let them know that your'e crazy; zip it up, lock it in; don't let them see that you forget to dot your ii', cross your t's apostrophize or know the distinction between the comma and its cousin the semi colon; careful don't let them see you were raised in a dysfunctional family and are now the matriach to one of your own, that you don't wear underwear beneath dresses or say grace before meals, don't always salute the flag, just because you are told to, that you forget to recycle, rather spit than swallow, don't make the beds most days before noon, if at all; haven't cooked your husband a decent meal for months eat fruit loops for breakfast, drink wine for lunch, skip dinner to vegetate on poetry sites, flirt shamelessly with supermarket stockboys, that you procrastinate, stall, put off ever having to grow up; tuck it in, sit up straight, don't let them know; don't them hear that thick brooklyn chick accent make sure to enunciate and pronunciate wouldn't want them to think youre white trash, crass, working class, or full of sass it's almost over, you may have just convinced them; breathe girl wink wink maybe you've tricked them this time. aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh |
