To Rebecca, whose song of hope has
soothed my heart. I am rejoicing in
the promising news of your upcoming
treatment. Rest, sweet dove, rest,
and later we will talk.

My mind confused, my spirit worn
The mist had veiled the summer morn
And there in life’s obscurity
Were truths I now had come to see
As though this soul had been reborn
And clothed in sweet serenity

For though a prayer had passed my lips
A whisper that through  silence rips
A simple prayer that jolts the core
And scathes the nerves of every sore
In grayness of the dawn’s eclipse
A prayer I’d uttered long before

The plea was for a simple sign
A spoken word, a phrase divine
A flash of light upon my brow
That I may understand somehow
And that He soothe this heart of mine
As on a bended knee I bow

My heart was laden with the plight
Of someone who had brought me light
Who in my troubled days had prayed
And on my bed a rose had laid
In blackness of a winter night
And there with me her fragrance stayed

And now I voice an urgent prayer
That He produce a sign somewhere
To offer me some hope and love
A song that I’ve been dreaming of
With lyrics dancing in the air……
And to my window came a dove

It was a bird with wings of white
That came to rest from feathered flight
A white dove of serenity
A white dove who embellished me
with coos that rustled in the night
As though she set God’s music free

The place to rest was but a choice
Her murmurs were God’s holy voice
And in the dark air crisp and pure
I knew that there would be a cure
And reasons that I could rejoice
For this, God’s sign, precise and sure

Oh, white dove, may your beauty shine
Upon this fragile face of mine
So delicate your wing of white
So grand the music of your flight
That I may choose to spend my time
Beside this window of delight

Love you
Liz

Good Morning Liz

This was my first reading of the day, and what an honor and joy it was to read.

I will keep your prayers in mine, but believe with conviction, that the Lord has his eyes turned in your direction and watches over all those whom your heart smiles for.

There are sometimes those blessings which He endows silently, yet brings them close...given time and patience...and my friend, you are one of those blessings.

I have been endowed with some great friendships through poetry, and believe that it is his voice that sings through our pens...so in that, rest assured, that your prayers and good heart will always be within his power.  Love to you and yours and thank you Liz, for writing and sharing.

Love and hugs...Lee J.

Elizabeth,
The white dove will hear your song
But time is measured in how long.
Excellent write.

Stunning sharing of verse...
lovely as your kind intentions dearest poetess Liz...
Adding my name to the long list of those holding Rebecca in thought and prayer.

I would love to live as a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.

As gentle as her feathered wing,
I'll join you, and this prayer we'll sing.

Elizabeth, a beautiful prayer indeed.
