Swamp Angel

Deep in the heart of Florida,
among the silky swamp,
after the hurricane's passed
I was on a safari romp.
The trees were all busted,
bruised and brutalized,
the debris spread so thick,
that my machete wanted to cry.
Then suddenly a clearing, and
before me a tranquil lagoon, in
which stood a lovely swamp angel,
starting my heart to swoon.
She ask me point blank,
"What have you done to
my beautiful swamp?"
To which I replied,
"It was not I that did it,
I also share your pain,
when I see before my
eyes the destruction
of the mighty hurricanes.
You've been through some
hard times, you've suffered
and you've cried, but through
it all you have persevered,
though it all you survived."
And then I gave her a
warm comforting hug,
as I thanked God that
she was alive.

This in no way is implying that all of Florida
is a swamp.  Of course they do have the Everglades
National Park in S. Florida which consist of 2,185
sq. miles of subtopical marshland.  I lived in
Florida for three years and it is a beautiful
state, unfortunatly going through some hard times
right now.

James - I love the swamps - especially outside of New Orleans, but Florida as well -like the OkeeFanokee (I know I've probably spelled that wrong!).  Any who - you've made my heart remember and sigh at the beauty recalled - thank you .

very touching...any place hit by a storm always is a sad sight...but like what you wrote, there is always hope
