Listening to every heart

How to Know a Poet

I am becoming more adept, in often strange-some ways,
In recognizing those who feel
Lexis coloring days, and if I watch some eyes so bright,
The gleam in stream of dreams, then a poet is about to meet
Another, with their ways.

Watch the hands of flitter fly, talking in the air,
Or watch as eyes find a gaze
On a horizon that is not there…

Or watch some apple dumpling cheeks
Shine bright to catch sun’s rays,
Knowing that the freckles there
Are kisses from other days…and then,

And then…

Listen to a voice so fine, it shimmers
In your soul; and find the touch of hands so warm,
A pen is held in glow…

Then know before you a poet stands,
And if you are a poet, too?
A hug is the requisite form of talk,
When one and one braid two…

And then? The air is round with solemn calm,
A peace fills full all time, as minds seem to meld
The storms, and quiet stills all space,
When eyes speak volumes, when shoulders share
The weight of all that is…

And sisters of poems then plait silence,
To be just what they are, bound by knowledge
Of their lives, as touched by the highest stars…

Poet, you have touched my heart, and
I hope,
That I have touched yours, too,
In ways that know no words…for
Forever special is held in this heart…
Martie, poetess,
For all I’ve heard with my soul, is true.

Sissy K

You are the sunshine
inside and out
you warm with everything you are
your face, your eyes, your hair
alive with light
and true of spirit flight

I wanted you to braid my hair
but you braided your fingers within my hand
and held it with your poet's care
and warmed the cold from me you see

Thank you for allowing me quiet
and not insisting on words on words
your sweet understanding I treasure
always and forever heard
between the lines like poetry
we wove a magic tapistry

Excellent tribute to a poetess that I am very fond of and very familiar with her works of pen.  I would have to say you captured her essence to a tee.  Nice to see the smiles also.

You have both touched me in ways you cannot imagine and braided words around the nearness of me. What a jewel you have written, dear sunshine.
What a picture,
the meeting of two great poetic sisters, two great minds, two wonderful hearts.
Love you

Writer's fine have signed your thought,
Giving praise as well they ought.
Being one with other's soul
Lets us be a bit more whole.

This is a lovely tribute to a great love and a great lady!  Ken

Sunshine,
Magnificient shinings!  "Clear the shelves:  make way for another masterpiece!"
I do this injustice by picking out a few stanzas when I probably should copy the entire poem, but these really sparked.

"Or watch some apple dumpling cheeks
Shine bright to catch sun’s rays,
Knowing that the freckles there
Are kisses from other days…and then,

And then…

Listen to a voice so fine, it shimmers
In your soul; and find the touch of hands so warm,
A pen is held in glow…

Then know before you a poet stands,
And if you are a poet, too?
A hug is the requisite form of talk,
When one and one braid two…"

Simply awesome wording and imagery!

Indeedy-do! Poets can look at things and see what no ordinary eye can. Magical!

Karilea,
I knew it! Yup I'd recognize that poet anywhere. Blessed are you both. Two of my favorite ladies...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

And I am so grateful to you two fine poetessas for all the beauty you shine into the world. There is so much Light radiating from your glorious souls, that I am almost blinded by having looked at the photo of you two super novas!

It is wonderful that you two were able to get together. Perhaps I too, will be fortunate enough to meet some of my Pip friends some day!

Blessings to you both! That's one heap of talent smiling out from that photo!
