Hearing the walls scream echoing your voice does not help me sleep at night. But I would have it no other way. For to forget you would be the death of my soul and I’m not ready to go. But some nights the walls scream too loud forcing me into fetal curl in remembering how you held me before the walls came crashing down. Ironically, I had always believed the image of walls coming down would be positive. |

This was written about a friend, a firefighter who died on the job when the ceiling and walls collapsed, trapping him. |

"But I would have it no other way. For to forget you would be the death of my soul and I’m not ready to go." Midnite.. Understanding this...I don't like to forget people...don't like to lose people..the people in our lives are so important--they fill us with the things we need to be who we are! (Even after they're gone...) nice write ![]() hugs, g "Everybody just wants to get high...sit and watch a perfect world go by..." (T.McGraw) |

Thank you for reading, MsVarner. No matter what job a loved one does, when they disappear from your life, it is devastating. And because firefighting is a higher than average risk job, perhaps you strive to cherish each moment even more. Heart hugs to you both, and please thank him for his willingness to be a lifesaver. I don't know what else to say. My friend Jim was special, and everyone who knew him knew he lived a very full and giving life, and was always the first one to jump into the middle of the scene. And I know his wife, my friend, misses him every single moment, no doubt even more intensely each night when the walls close in. |

"They" keep trying to assure me that the walls should come down too. Hard to believe when you're being pummeled by bricks tho. ![]() 'cause I know. |

I'm glad you were able to write this about such a sad situation. Your friend is very lucky to have someone with such compassion. Had I not known the situation, I would have flattered you about the dynamite contrast you showed walls to have. I won't do that because I know that wasn't your purpose. Thanks for being you. miscellanea |

Trust me on this. There are some walls that should never come down least we don't survive what we see. ![]() Very well done. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

It can be positive...very much so. /pip/Forum81/HTML/002744.html And...what seems negative can turn positive again. |

Nice job here Midnitesun, I think we all come from a place were the walls have wanted to, or have fallen down. Are they heroes in the next chapter of life or are we all when the time comes? Outstanding pen on paper here. Thanks. wayne If nothing is something |

Thanks to each one of you for your reply, and James, for the link. Wayne? yes, no doubt we all have a hero moment, maybe many such moments. A good point. |

"Ironically, I had always believed the image of walls coming down would be positive." **************** I know it is hard to see the positive, however, it is there. Hidden maybe, but I do understand your thoughts on this. Very nice piece and very touching. |
