Outlasting Silence

The silence was enough,
I declared my discontent.
Demanding of my muse,
Exactly what was the intent?

Had my lips been sealed
So that I might learn?
Or was this time of silence
Meant to teach my heart to yearn?

I do not need to move my pencil
If I just create some scribble.
After all, it is not that much fun
To read somebody’s dribble.

So I returned to that blank page
To see what I might find.
Words began to hit the paper,
As I searched deep within my mind.

Now I patiently wait for my muse
To inspire thoughts I treasure.
I find it worth the wait
As it brings me so much pleasure.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ohhhhhhh, I have spent many a day and night chasing my muse around. Gotta wear 'em down to catch 'em and then they are to tuckered sometimes to be of any good. You get one good line and no direction to take it in. So much enjoyed and related to this one.

Outlasting this is very difficult to do, but I suppose we learn some things if we listen with more than our ears.

Larry,

Another wonderful, wonderful, prolific write. You have a great way about your writing that leaves me searching for your posts when I jump in to look around. Your writing is sincere and passionate. You take a great deal of time to structure each of your writes to ensure some level of perfectionism that is all to often missed by many, many poets. I have never found fault in your writing, structure, message, etc. To the contrary I find inspiration, strength, compassion, and integrity in every one of your writes. You are a man above most men. I salute you.

LOL... I love this. *S* After many decades of living with my muse and her extended vacations, I don't sweat her absence... in fact... I kind of like sleeping through nights without her interruptions. LOL I've found, in fact... that the more I enjoy my snoozes and reading other poets... the faster she hustles back into the picture. *G*

   Do I ever understand this!  I've been trying and trying to write but the silence outlasted me.   I figured I'd start playing with color and paints instead--perhaps my writing muse will immerge through the brush strokes instead of the key strokes!  Hope so!
I can't wait until I have something to post again!  Enjoyed this a whole lot!!!
