Odyssey Across The Room...

the essence of the day was bleak
with the stench of jarring inevitability lingering in the air
there were stains on the carpet
mishapen drams
shifting in form and shade
indigo to oval and back to red
the patterns made me nauseous
disoriented
with the tiniest amount of alacrity
one foot in front of the other
an arm at my right
a leg at my left
the remnants of yesterday's battles
what a dissonant odyssey
emanated by the thirst for atonement
each step a dull fever
the heat disperses from foot to floor
radiating lucent illustions of vibrant color
rippling as water across the room
the imbroglio appears incessant
with each inch being a foot
and each minute a day
jaded and worn my delusions of grandeur are left behind
knee to palm, to cheek, to floor
repose in my dream, i will journey no more
