Perhaps there is another me
barely able to be known
or seen dressed up, dressed down,
or adorned with furrowed brow
at time’s harsh and stringent punishment
decreed on flesh and bone.

Every day more wrinkles play
across her countenance
and eyes no longer eager
seem to stumble in their search
for innocent tear drops
to line her inner lids.

She sits hands folded
guarding them
or hiding healing power
and rests her weary body
on a bed of memory
while days and nights revolve
around fate and destiny.

She maybe has a dream
somewhere in between,
maybe she believes
this is her time to grieve,
and maybe she just knows
what comes will always go
and settle like a stone
in the bottom of her soul.

Perhaps there is another me
come to call from over there
and I a mere spectator
caught in crossfire of desire
merge into her arousal
until my own identity
becomes a thing unknown.

Perhaps but maybe not
in spirit form aligned
the two of us concurrently
both think today of you
and wonder if your footsteps
are uncertain and afraid
or sure and steady, confident,
in which way you choose to go.

Perhaps there is another me,
perhaps but maybe not!

Helen your words left me with much to ponder.
I enjoyed your write. Hugs.

found in the hearts of those

Thanks Gentle Spirit - I seem to ponder a lot these days - it must be an age thing.

Helen

Perhaps, but maybe not.  You are a complex person, I would bet that you hold many within you.  I have seen a few of me now and then.  Enjoyed your thoughts in this poem, as I always do!

Enchantress - thank you so much for the read.

Martie - With the opposite of complex being "simple" perhaps I am complex but then again, maybe not.     I guess it just depends on circumstances.
