I cannot forget you
and I have tried
(I admit)
to have you banished from my mind
when days of thinking of you beside me
produce nothing but tears
at the end of a day I need escape from.
I have an endless ocean of love
with a wicked riptide of doubt
and I am being sucked off my feet
drowned by a desperation
a lonliness
that takes my throat
and squeezes
until I can no longer produce
an unwavering breath.
Please do not forget me
lost
floating out here in this ocean
fearing what my feet cannot touch
and hoping
that I do not have to thirst for your presence
forever.
I cannot forget you
and I have tried
(I admit again)
but you rest somewhere deep
somewhere in me that even I cannot touch
and hollow out.
Perhaps it is a place
where God holds you inside of me
for my own safety.
I am afraid of what my feet cannot touch.

All of my impurities are right here on my sleeve. This is Me"---Faith Hill

It reminds me of the expression

To plumb the depths

Rising to the surface
As you fail to go deeper and deeper
Despite all you find
As you descend

Oh Jen, how poignant. Perhaps, this is exactly what it is...a place held inside.

Temptress,

Beautiful writing, wringing out the dampness in me!  This goes straight to my library!  You have shown the feeling well!
