The dew wasn’t yet dry
as the day forced itself upon me.

Reluctantly, I accepted reality.

I cannot change the past
nor can I apparently
control all of the future.

And yet?

Whatever I can control
I must take into my hands and heart,
mold the day into
what I knead.

The prospects are not always good,
but I must take this clay of day...
and make it

my own.

For it is what I have,
and what I make of it
shall be

the essence of me.

Kacy-

Your words are precise and very true. They ring softly and they buzz deep, then they enter the cortext of the heart and dig even deeper.

In everything we say and do. Thank You!

Midnitesun,

   Wonderfully said!

Whatever I can control
I must take into my hands and heart,
mold the day into
what I knead.

I think of bread baking as well as clay!  Your words, the bread of life!

Wise words - we are what we make of ourselves-

The words yes but the image of control no

A fear of failing to lead to motivate leads people to believe dictate and control suit them

People are then treated as essentially slaves to be bullied, killed if necessary but considered to be so unable to think that you should control them, for their own sakes

I am over the top on this reaction, but you spurred me to say that control over yourself is one thing but never that you should then seek control over others

Thanks to each for reading and commenting.

Dave? Yep, it's ALL about SELF-control, not controlling anyone else, or giving anyone else conrol and/or blame for events that unfold in one's life.

So true but we can learn from the past and we can do our best to prepare for the future to an extent, but most important, our attitude and how we react or act upon events determine quite abit as you point out so evidently in your next verse.

Nicely stated and so true in it's entirety.  I enjoyed much.

LOL, JO, it usually does end 'up' doesn't it?

Mark, what a kind reply. And I am honored that you've taken the time to read this. Thank you.

This is a favorite and recurring theme of mine, to do whatever is possible and not worry about the rest.  However, you say it much better!  Ken

Good Morning, Ken LOL, is there such a thing as a 'comfortable' time for house repairs? WHEW, yesterday was HOT, today might also be mid to high 80's. GULP... Floridians are probably hitting the 90's as they mop up the 'cane messes, so we really are lucky. Anyway, take the day and make it yours
