I have given myself over to laziness
boredom tempts me into an oblivion
and I am too distracted
to notice my pens.
I think about writing
and what I would be writing
if I were writing...
but thinking about writing
we have to remember
isn't actually writing.
I read that in a book somewhere
and thought it would have been obvious
without needing to be written down.
The nerve
of some book telling me
that thinking about writing isn't writing
when I already knew
because after all
I am a smart girl, right?
Now I realize that passage
was there to remind me
while I am lazy
to get up and do
sit up straight and demand my own creativity
to lash out at a page
or a napkin
on any skin that will not give
beneath the flustering blustering of my words.

All of my impurities are right here on my sleeve. This is Me"---Faith Hill

I can offer some old words

When tiredness is  your master

When tiredness is  your master
The world becomes your soul
When anger is your mistress
And you a bad {edited profanity}

When talk is with yourself
But shouldn't ever be
When nothing is the matter
But you can't let the world go free

When you sleep because you must
But sick of your life - a waste
Why should you sleep for want
Why is there so much haste

You are supposed to be grateful
That you are in demand
And loud-mouths with loud braces
Think the world is their behind

But still the tiger drags
You kissing up it's tail
Until you hit the tree
Forget your thoughts - prevail

Find the inner sense
Balance with the void
Find the peace you know how to get
Avoid this senseless noise

Dave

Enjoyed this - the other night at the Range I had to grab a scrap and pen because I had thought of a couple of lines on the drive - who knows where they'll lead

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Blunder away, Temptress. Sometimes, the pen needs a short break. And sometimes, it needs a kick-in-the-inkwell.

So glad you got up and did.  Sounds like you ready for the next chapter.  So much enjoyed and I think most of us can relate to this to some extent at least.  Thanks for the read.

Temptress,
So is writing about writing different than thinking about writing some writing? And, by the way, how nice to see you writing - even about writing. As for that lazy thing, who cares?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I enjoyed this, Temptress, and know
it very well!! I've started messing with PSP
and making sigtags and have put my writing
on the back burner, it seems. I'm beginning to
miss it very much. So, guess mine isn't so much
laziness as other creativity. Poetry is my
passion, though and I miss it so much if
I stay away from writing for very long.

It was good to read you agsin, Lady.
Hugs,
Ethel
