"My Masterpiece"

Someday I'll write my masterpiece, I feel it in my bones,
a work of such significance that it will stand alone.
Great scholars will digest it, and, subject it to review,
and, as you might expect it, they'll say " What a stinker, PHEW!".
But it will be my masterpiece, commensurate with skill,
a work in which I can take pride, though it may make you ill,
the culmination of a feat unheard of in our time,
that will not miss a single beat while radiating rhyme.
Someday I'll write my masterpiece, such eloquence in verse,
that all shall bow before it and dismiss it with a terse
comment about my ancestry, or some such snide remark,
yet I shall write a masterpiece so full of fire and spark,
that I shall not take umbrance with what mortal critics say,
someday I'll write a masterpiece in such a special way,
that if all of humanity's offended, I'll give odds,
that it will be a masterpiece befitting of the gods!
Someday I'll write my masterpiece, it's way, way, overdue,
but, please don't hold your breath that long, your face is turning blue!

Enjoyed Doc, and I haven't forgotten you. I just had to clean some dust out of my clinker before I could attend to the other.

sigh.

Some things just won't go away until they are written.
