in the shadows

Maben marks a time of change,
the beginning of the year’s end game
for the Northern half of Mother Earth,
when time begins to curl upon itself
tucking ever deeply
into dreams of glory
and rebirth.

Soon the colors will appear,
slowly first,
then exploding
untempered by the fear of dying,
the colors that always were here
all through the other seasons
since life began again last year,
unseen within the narrow range
of normal human sight,
ignored right in front of open eyes,
hidden in the busy rush
of each tree’s focused dedication
to growth in its career.

While each season has its charm,
I find with age
my understanding of Autumn grows more clear.
I envy trees
their gift of such passionate display,
so free,
at the end,
to say to any and to all, “This is who I really am;
this is what I know inside
and have seen through every living day.
This I choose
briefly to display for all who will not turn away;
I’ll stand naked to be seen
without the shadowed mask of corporate green,
so you too may see
what life can be,
when all are free.”

And I knew I could count on you.

Smile.

May you have a festive Second Harvest, dear friend.

Blessed be, and libations abound!

back to the old chimenea I suppose.

Ah, free to show our real selves at the ending of our season. Yes, I can see this one.

This one displays the beauty of wisdom and understanding that comes as we age, and you've shown your colors so well.

Gosh, this is just breathtaking! Your words, your images and your ability to express what many see but cannot quite comprehend.

Bravo on a glorious write.  hugs, Marti
