Amish It is an arK upon the sea That’s driven by internal will It is a ship that sails the field Upon the crest of rolling hill Aromas are of earthy stench Of hoof and hide, of farmyard scent But he who tills a fertile trench Prepares the soul for its ascent For planting is a Godly task And course is on a seaward trail No soul alive would dare to ask How burdensome this vessel’s sail A shirt is drenched in timely chore A hat-rimmed brow in dreadful sweats And night brings forth another shore And day another day begets Elizabeth Santos |

Look Liz, I see a great big Clydesdale! A farmer in black guiding it on its course. Silly Canadian, that’s not a Clydesdale, Just an ordinary, American Amish workhorse! Remember? I sure do. Some of the fondest memories I have are of Pennsylvania and its beautiful landscape. However...one town there has a name that is pretty darn funny I tell you. Look it up - Intercourse, PA is actually on the map! Oh Lizie, this was such a lovely tribute to those wonderful people there. |

One of the loveliest Amish towns in Pennsylvania... True fact... We saw them... This is a wonderful poem, Lizzie. You've captured the heart of these folks beautifully... |
