Sweet Misery

You torment me as a ghost,
A shadow in the light
My sadness into the night;
Some days I am numb to emotions,
Life’s moments stolen within a blink
Like a photographer’s flash capturing time---
And I forget the love my reflection had for me
Before I met you…before I lost myself.
So I sleep to forget the past,
Sinking into pillows smelling of salt and dampness
Dreaming simply to remember…happiness,
Reminiscing of our romance on the beach
When the ocean sprays showered us in love
And we joyfully ran through its midst as husband and wife;
But reality quickly transformed into dark clouds
Embracing the light of the crying skies
And the rains washed away our footprints in the sand
And gradually you vanished as a ghost,
A shadow in the light
My sadness into the night
My torment…as I awake.

Deeply touching, the feelings that lay here.
Comparisons are eloquent, the ghost, the sand, the ocean.

"I dream to remember happiness"

So often such a devastating loss prevents us from trusting love again. And yet, it is love that leads us through the painful lessons, sometimes our own, and sometimes for the sake of someone else.

So very honest and open in your works Marcel.

Misery doesn't necessarily love company, but please know you are not alone.
The reality of it all can be overwhelming, this I know all too well.
