Naples yellow splashed brilliantly
alongside shadows defined in ochre,
earthy siennas grounding me
willingly, under Prussian blue skies.

I feel your heartbeat whenever I see
the boldness of brilliant yellow sunflowers
or the graceful curve of a cedar tree.

Oh, but if only for one short moment
I could have been blessed,
to sit quietly by your side,
to have been permitted to dance
with the rhythms of each brushstroke
as you boldly painted life itself
upon the canvas that was your heart.

My own feeble attempts can never capture
the purest essence of light and texture
that bled from your soulful heart and eyes
onto each awaiting blank canvas.
Your emotional interpretations of nature,
your unique visions of the whole of life
stand as true and pure today
as they did so long ago, Vincent.

Forever your art shall be
a testament to your humanity.
You left us as you had lived,
in an overwhelming flood of passion.
And you shall always be my favorite
artist of humanity.

Kacy, an artist you are in your own right!
He would be proud and so should you.

Looking at something you can not capture is not failure, it is an understanding of quality of the person who can transcend limits for a period of time.

Yes I think your words were a capture as if we took a photograph of you looking at something that formed an image.

Your emotional interpretations of nature,

your interpretation isn't too bad

I didn't get much further
than the title
to remember the first write...

and I would dance along side you
at such brilliance...

not everyone can have "that" eye
for such genius, which might
have only been
a stroke...

of life.

Thank you again for this, Kacy...
it is good to dance
in another's
masterpiece.

Thanks for reading and remembering, Karilea.
A field of sunflowers always makes me want to dance, and revisit van Gogh's vibrant paintings.

Hmmmmm
Somehow
Somewhere in your first verse
I knew who this was about,
though I don't recall reading
an earlier version.
Perhaps it lodged
off in a dark corner recess.

I enjoy an artist-on-artist piece like this.

Kacy...it isn't Van Gogh...but a present to you, just the same as this poem is to us.

Krawdad, thanks. Painting touches the heart and soul, as does poetry. Humbly thanking you for your kind 'artist-on-artist' comment.

Karilea, THANKS! Aw, and I don't even have to get a vase to hold that beauty!
