A note: Nothing is as simple as baking a cookie, naively thinking that it will make "all things" better. But the fact that one can mix faith, hope, and belief within themselves for a better tomorrow can be as simple as baking a cookie. Here is a repost that allowed me to believe in tomorrows. Dear Mr. President – Have a Cookie A week ago a friend did what a friend does – a favor. When asked how best I could repay, he said, “I like chocolate chip cookies!” I put it on my “to do” list. Two days ago I picked up ingredients for chocolate chip cookies ~ yesterday, our nation was attacked ~ war is imminent ~ people need blood, families need prayers, the country needs unity. Children need reassurance, calm needs to permeate and level heads, preside. Grief will come, later, tears will come, later. Faith needs to be now courage needs to be now belief needs to reign supreme in our country in ourselves in our President. Dear Mr. President, this morning I awoke grateful today I talked with people who hope you do the right thing this afternoon, I kept tabs on you, and yours, awaiting your words. Tonight I passed soccer fields, parents with children giving support in a tomorrow to come. Dear Mr. President, tonight I shall bake cookies for the tomorrows that shall be. In this, I have faith in you and yours, in our country and it’s desire to remain free, in the fact that we can come together as one. This, I believe. Here, Mr. President. Have a cookie. For we all still have "to-do" lists. ~*~ Reposted from 12 September 2001 with some slight revisions |

I really like this mix of Solemn and folksy maybe we can all bake cookies today in rememberance. I’m tempted to add nuts with the chocolate chips for some reason. I like your writing. |

You brought it all back. I needed that. I had pushed it too far away. Thank you. |

You continue to find simplicity of expression in the most complex of emotions. This is a privilege to read. KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

reminds me of that day, March 18, 1980, when they told me mom died...my brother took me to McDonald's for an ice cream sundae. I guess he had to think of something to get me up from the lawn where I laid for hours staring at the sky, hoping to see her there in the clouds. |

Most beautiful dear Sun. Your words say so much of what we needed then and now...For tomorrow is but another day of faith. |

If ya love or hate our President...doesn't matter...few if any have endured what he has...he deserves a bunch of cookies.... |

I knew on that day that I would one day have the chance to read and see and hear others experiences of that day - I am thankful for the artists and individuals who share. It is something that brings us some unity - even if we disagree on how history has unfolded since that day. And even though I am not American - we hurt together, we pray together, we cried together, we love together. |

Life does continue, no matter what the circumstances. Living without giving in to the fear and terror that is sought by such atrocities is one of the greatest acts of defiance and valor the average person can do. Thanks for the cookies Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |
