Charley went around us...
We just caught the edge of Frances.
We have a funny feeling that
We're running out of chances.

Two bullets fired - two bullets missed
With only glancing blows
But Ivan now approaches.
Will it hit? Nobody knows.

The weathermen are quick to say
There's no cause for alarm,
A funny thing to say when facing
Such a massive storm!

The shutters have been up since Charley
And through Frances, too.
Food and candles all are stockpiled -
Not much else to do.

Fill the cars with gas again,
Buy more batteries.
Get rid of the branches
That, just last week, I called trees.

Key West's been evacuated,
Sloppy Joe's is closed.
Ernie's cats are trembling
Right down to their six toes.

Ivan's almost to Jamaica
Then to see Fidel.
Politics don't matter when
The weather turns to hell.

They say the third time is the charm.
I hope that's not the case
Although I must confess that sweat
Is pouring down my face.

I don't like Ivan - not at all
So here I sit and wait.
Whether he comes by or not
Is in the hands of fate.

SO, my friends at P.I.P
I'm sending you this card
And then I'm gonna have a little
Pow-wow with the Lord.....

Be sure to take your peace pipe, Balladeer!  Take care of yourself and family, ok?
Enjoyed the update.  Gee, you are always right in the middle of things.  How does it always work out like that?

I hope you remain safe deer....it seems like a never ending battle right now and hopefully over soon....keeping you and others in thoughts

I don’t want the world to see me
cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken I just want you to know who I am

Take care down there all my poet friends in Florida...by the way deer, I'd really like to come see you sometime, but with the predictions, I think I'll wait another decade or so

Oh Balladeer, this is so like you,  to bring a smile in times of trouble.
Thank goodness Southern California doesn't have an earthquake "season"
What a jolly welcome to Florida, but I think I'll pass, and I hope Ivan does too.

Stay safe~

I hope he doesn't get to angry.
Though I can ubderstand taking your golf away. But it is making you write. LOL

Even through all the horrible storms, your wonderful sense of humour keeps us all smiling.

This was fastistic, my 'Deer - flowing to poetic perfection, and filled with both wit and stark reality.  Loved this! It should be on the front page of all the Florida papers!

Best wishes and big hugs for a safe ride through Ivan!

Balladeer~
I could use a smile or two ... or three or four ... or more~

My community is an absolute disaster !!!
Ivan is NOT welcomed anywhere here in FLORIDA~
And I pray God that it doesn't come our way or anyone else's way~

Thanks for the little smile this morn ... they are hard to find these days~

(My NEW tracking maps wouldn't pass muster at this site)

You mean Ivan the ugly one oh dear oh dear, that's a mean one I've heard.

Well, mayby thy Lord will listen again to this little ol'Dutchie here.
I truly hope Ivan is not coming your way or in any's way for that matter.

Only thing I can do is keep you in my mind and cross my fingers. You know you're in my heart Deer, you all are!!!!

Toerag, it would be a great idea for you to come down..what would happen when two masses of hot air collide? You could cancel each other out!!!

Well, the news is better for us today. With the westward turn, we may escape the full brunt of the storm. It provides some mental relief but there is no reason to celebrate. Not hitting us would mean it would be hitting someone else. I'd applaud if the damn thing would just head out to sea and spare everyone...

Thank you all for the comments and well-wishes

Marge....keep them fingers crossed!
