hey - my names kelly. i'm new here to the board. i've been writing poetry for about two years now and i enjoy it very much. this is my first post, any comments are appreciated. =) ----------------------------- broken barbie dolls, empty tissue boxes and last nights idea of perfect if i hand you a piece of my heart will you help me put band aids on all my little cuts and broken pieces? let the faucet run and no one will ever know you walked upon our bathroom tile. if i could say the things i wanted to say, i guess maybe the tip of my tongue wouldn’t taste so stale. but i just cried and i’m sorry all i can offer you is an empty box of tissues and a face full of swollen eyes and mixed emotions of a little girl huddled in the corner. did anyone ever tell you she’s lost? yeah, the news came around today, i thought you should know. lately i think i’m starting to resemble one of my broken barbie dolls sitting alone on the dusty shelf of my basement. she lost ken so she’s making a date with the spider webs. broken but beautiful, her smiles still attached. i’m sorry your idea of perfect isn’t me, after all. i think reading too many fairytale books results to anything but a happy ending. but smiles aren't always real and eyes aren't always a window to your soul because some times a smile is just a motion and sometimes your soul is just a bare reflection of someone who isn't really there at all. kelly landis - |

Welcome! but smiles aren't always real and eyes aren't always a window to your soul because some times a smile is just a motion and sometimes your soul is just a bare reflection of someone who isn't really there at all. These lines really spoke to me. Enjoyed. The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colour, but the sea, does not change. |

Kelly, first of all, WELCOME! You're going to like it here. Secondly....wow, did you have a great deal to say here! I have been where you were when this poem came out, and I know exactly what you mean....all so very true....too many fairy tales! It takes awhile...but you will find that you are really better than Barbie and the only one you really have to please....is yourself. Best regards......jo |

"she lost ken so she’s making a date with the spider webs." This was funny to me. I know the poem isn't funny..In fact it's quite sad, but that part was just funny to me. Maybe I'm just too tired. Lol I just drove for five hours to my moms to visit and haven't gone to sleep the three hours that I've been here. |
