A Thread to Andromeda

The concert was opened late one evening
     last week
with a solo performance
But there are few players to be heard
     now
in these cold days of August
This audience quietly awaits their certain
     coming together
in the inevitable flow of summer heat
We know their voices will grow to
     a full chorus
as none could carry on for long in isolation
We will listen then under the Perseid stars
     of the north
to their chitinous parts scrubbing out dark-air rhythms

I believe you met the challenge, and then some.

I wonder, too, if next year, we will talk, or even speak to a "cold August".

I enjoyed this creative write, though I'm not familiar with the particular 'challenge' it met.

This was the August challenge on another site.  Words pulled from a published poem.  Use at least seven of the ten in a new poem.  All participants select the best contribution of the lot and cheer for the winner.  Then you get to read the published poem.  An amazing range of poems develops.

This one is about my local cricket friends, of course.

It has been very overcasted and cloudy here all summer with lots of rain, so unfortunately I wasn't able to view the concert you wrote of...but a beautiful challenge well met.

Bravo!
